An entry foyer is the first impression of your home and sets the tone for the whole house. Because of this, it is so important to give it some concentrated attention.
This gorgeous foyer started out in builder basic white. Our client wanted some elegance and personality in this important first impression space.
The foyer was a long narrow space with some nice features like French doors to an office, nice height and a tray ceiling inset. But unfortunately it was all finished with generic light fixtures and paint.
We made a plan to add some color and texture and elegance with panels, wallpaper, paint, and a new carpet and console table. Our client already owned a beautiful mirror and lamps from a previous home that would work perfectly.
We broke up the long walls with applied panel molding framing gorgeous painted grasscloth wallpaper panels. You can see the design plan for the foyer transformation wallpaper panels here. Walls were painted to match the wallpaper background.
The tray ceiling and new light fixtures were highlighted with a raffia cane patterned wallpaper that has a metallic background that reflects light from the new lantern fixtures.
Privacy concerns dictated a cover for the door sidelight window. We had a panel fabicated of a semi sheer linen that has the same pattern featured in the wallpaper and used classic custom brass rods to mount it.
The entry door interior was painted in a rich navy, a tone used in various other rooms on the main floor, to give it some substance and draw the eye.
A long but very narrow console table with drawers was specified in a black painted finish and provides a space for florals, lamps and to drop keys or mail when entering.
Underfoot is a custom wool runner in a subtle cream and blue basketweave pattern.
The elegance quotient on this space went from ordinary to exquisite!
