Can you have a pink home office that is also chic and sophisticated? We have proof that YES, you can! Tada, here it is…the chic, elegant ladies home office reveal!
I am just SO delighted with this transformation, and so is our client. It’s everything she wanted and so perfect for her.
The homeowner was repossessing this office from her husband since he never used it, and she wanted something light and bright, and decidedly feminine. And pink is a favorite color for her.
We were careful to make choices that were sophisticated so we didn’t end up with ‘Barbie’s Dream Home’ - which is always a danger with pink and pastel schemes!
We installed this space in late 2021 and began working on the garden inspired library/family room in 2022. I went back this week to photograph both spaces and today I’m sharing the pictures of the home office.
As always, we started the project with an inspiration story board to describe the mood, and a layout to address the function.
Functionally, we moved the computer to the back window wall. This accomplished two things;
1.) the view from the door is now greets you with a pretty writing table and chandelier instead of the back of a computer with a tangle of wires, and
2.) our client now has window light on her face for zoom calls instead of from behind casting her face in shadow.
In addition to the rearranged computer, we were also tasked with including abundant shelf space for all the binders she uses and convenient file and storage space.
A pair of guest chairs were also on the wish list since her teen children drop in to the office frequently to read or study.
You can see the before pictures and inspiration for this space, along with the design plan and options in THIS post.
Key to this pretty office was doing something unexpected on the ceiling. This home is graced with 10’ ceilings and beautiful classical millwork, and highlighting that with a hot pink glossy ceiling adds a fun surprise and bathes the room in a reflected pink glow.
Adding beautiful window panels would highlight the abundant windows and pretty views in the space as well. We chose a gorgeous embroidered linen with a pink (of course) and green floral design to be the starring pattern in the room.
We also had custom lucite and satin brass hardware drapery hardware made for an updated twist on traditional style that also added a little glamour.
Roman the kitty oversaw the window treatment installation…he approved of it as purrrrrfect.
Custom comfy guest chairs with dressmaker skirts and plush down seat cushions were covered in a Chanel inspired pink tweed, a perfect companion to the embroidered linen.
The floor got a soft pink area rug, a contemporary take on a traditional medallion pattern oriental carpet.
Office components from Ballard offer the needed filing space, storage, shelving, and a computer credenza. We had them repainted in a brighter white to match the writing table and millwork and had the backs of the bookshelves painted with an apple green accent color.
And the ceiling got one of my favorite chandeliers in a Paris flea market style with gilding and glass beads adding a bit more glamour to this pretty, chic, ladies home office!
Our goal with every project is to bring an element of surprise and delight that elevates the design out of the ordinary, and, of course, to #bringbackpretty. I think we’ve succeeded on all counts with this home office!
