It’s the last week of the One Room Challenge and we are full steam ahead here trying to get as much done as possible before the finale!
If you need to know exactly what the One Room Challenge (ORC, for short) is and want to catch up on the before pictures and progress from the last 6 weeks, you can do that here:
Week 1 with the before pictures that put the ’challenge’ in one room challenge!
Week 2 with the saga of the hood and an update on the the possessed appliances
Week 3 with the decisions still to be made and our process for choosing patterns
Week 4 with progress! Yay! we can move most of the stuff back from the various other rooms?!
Week 5 with finally, some of the pretty stuff!
Delightful news…my tile is going in soon! I heard from my contractor right on schedule whilst I was sitting at the Dublin airport waiting to board my flight home and he is coming this week to work on tile installation (and hopefully the hood as well 🤞 that’s the piece I am most worried about getting in!)
I picked up the tile, grout, and sealer from the warehouse yesterday before my dentist appointment to deal with the tooth that broke while I was away (that was a much less fun outcome than the kitchen stuff!)
Aaaand the contractor is arriving any minute to assess the situation and start prepping for the tile install. I baked banana bread in anticipation LOL. I need to talk him into also installing the hood and I’m not above food bribery.
I retrieved the hood and its trim from the painter this morning 😁😁😁.
Once the tile is in, my quartz fabricators will come template for the shaped backsplash for behind the sink.
I’m down to details now…I’m hoping the glass company can get antiqued mirror for my cabinet doors, but it definitely won’t come in time. If they can’t, regular mirror will be okay too.
My pretty brass shelf brackets arrived from Anthropologie while I was gone last week. They weren’t expected until late November, so that was a really nice surprise - I’ll get to add the little shelf between the new window and door that will display and store some of my pretty, most used pitchers.
While I was poking around shops in Berlin, I happened upon this PERFECT green trim to add to the chandelier shades. It is the right shade to blend with the greens in the fabric and it has a tiny scalloped profile - and we know how I love scallops.
While I was picking up the hood, I got a peek at my almost-finished table. It just needs a coat of poly and it will be ready for prime time. It’s looking sooooo cute in its new green outfit!
My window treatment will be delivered this week…soooo excited about that!
And, my seagrass rug just arrived for under the table!
This week I’m…
prepping and painting the walls and trim,
touching up the ceiling,
hanging the window treatment,
getting my handyman back to add the last pieces of trim once the tile is in and to put up the shelf brackets,
picking up the table,
and styling for whatever photo angles I can get depending on what’s done by the finish date!
Woohoo! Almost there! I love love love everything even in its half finished state - I can’t believe what a transformation it is - can’t wait to share it!
