One of the services we offer at JRL Interiors is our ReNesting Service.
This was born out of years of requests from repeat clients asking for help when they moved to a new space, and it is now one of our most popular services.
Puzzle solving is our superpower and this is the ultimate in puzzle solving!
ReNesting is a fixed fee service and works to help create a move plan for our clients to know what pieces to move, what to re-purpose/upcycle, and what to buy new for the new house to turn it into your dream home.
Surrounding yourself with the things that mean the most to you is so important in helping a new house feel like a home.
How it Works
It all starts with a site visit to assess your current home to help us understand your priorities and for us to measure and document the available furnishings and rugs that might find a second life in your new home.
Next, we visit the new property, discuss your dreams for how you envision using the spaces, and measure all the rooms.
Then we go to work putting the puzzle pieces together to create ideal furniture layouts using your furnishings and rugs and filling in any gaps with the correct sizing of new furnishings.
We’ll offer some alternative room layouts where possible. Below are a couple of examples from a past ReNesting project:
Next, we meet to go over the plans. Once the plans are finalized, you will have documentation with labeled furniture layouts to use that streamline moving day.
No more moving pieces that you can’t use, or trying to decide while the movers are there where the sofa might fit best! You’ll have an ideal plan that is already sized to fit and know where every piece should be placed.
And you’ll have a clear idea of exactly what new pieces might be needed to complete the rooms and what size they should be, so you can shop with confidence for any additions to the mix.
At the presentation meeting we also select the perfect paint colors for any spaces you wish to repaint to coordinate with your furnishings.
Large paint sample are delivered so you can view the colors in the spaces at different times of day to be sure you love them before committing.
Thinking Outside the Box
Just because that sofa and those chairs were all together in your living room doesn’t mean they HAVE to all be together in the new house.
Perhaps those handpainted scenic doors on an armoire you no longer need can be repurposed as large format art or as unique pantry cabinet doors.
We will often move furnishings around based on shape and size to use in new combinations and spaces.
Secret weapons…slipcovers, reupholstery, and refinishing or repainting pieces can alter the look of existing furnishings and give them a fresh new life in your new home.
Long Distance Projects
Because this is primarily a space planning exercise, it easily translates to long distance as long as accurate measurements and photos can be supplied.
We do the walks throughs and meetings via zoom or FaceTime, and delivery of all final documentation is via email and final paint samples via Fedex.
Add-on Services
Many of our ReNesting clients have gone on to add our Designer-By-Your-Side hourly services.
This service can be used for any design related task and some of our ReNesting clients have used it to have us hang art and gallery walls and style accessories.
Others have had us source new fabrics, soft goods, unique accessories, furnishings, window treatments, lighting, or rugs to finish off the spaces.
Nothing beats moving into a new house and feeling instantly at home!
Our clients are always delighted with the outcome.
We’ve fit in furnishings that they thought would have to be given away,
found ways to display myriad sentimental art pieces,
resized custom window treatments for reuse in a new space,
and reupholstered comfortable favorite pieces to blend into new surroundings!
The possibilities are endless with some creative vision.
Whether you are downsizing, upsizing, or right-sizing our ReNesting service can make your move infinitely easier.
