We’ve had some spring weather this week with the temperature bumping up to 61 a couple of days…which always gives me hope. And while I have hope for spring to arrive, I live in New England and it is still February, I’m not delusional. We’ve also had temperatures this week dipping down to 10. 🙄
Winter here is about 3 months too long, so I like to think about spring as soon as we have any warm days. The calendar says spring begins in mid March…here all bets are off until well into May.
But spring is the time for birds nesting, and flowers poking up, and trees greening and things in general coming back to life. Arrangements of spring flowers, and bowls of fresh citrus fruits are the easiest ways to add some spring, but if you want to go all in, here are some color suggestions to add a touch of spring freshness year round.
Nothing says spring like shades of green!!
For me, the accent colors of spring are in peach and pink tulips and cherry blossoms, yellow forsythia and daffodils, and periwinkle and lavender irises and lilacs, and all these colors pair exceptionally well with the greens bursting forth everywhere! Green is natures neutral.
If you want a color that “plays well with others”, green is a safe bet. And while it works like a neutral in most circumstances, it has the benefit of adding a foundation of color and personality.
Since the color of the year in home decor seems to be heavily in the green camp, these spring pastels are the perfect accents to bring a little harbinger of the season into your home.
A favorite fabric can be the star of a room and inspire the whole color scheme.

Coral and Green
These coral and green fabrics are the selections for a garden inspired library project we are working on. We kept an existing rug that had cream, greens, blues, and coral tones and curated this wonderful selection of fabrics to work with it.
Yellow and Green
This sophisticated yellow and green botanical fabric from Schumacher would wrap a room in sunny spring style. It would make gorgeous for window treatments! It is perfect to inspire sunny shades of yellow paired with greens.

Spring colors will be coming to the great outdoors here eventually, but in the meantime, I’ll be adding some of these pretty spring colors inside to tide me over! What are your favorite colors for the spring season?
