Day 2A: Trendspotting at ICFF

After our busy time seeing the exciting new products at ICFF, the rest of the day was devoted to the most incredible indulgences in keeping with our #designforthesenses tour theme.

Mr. Steam, one of our Designhounds NYC sponsors and an award winning steam shower company, treated us to a luxurious spa experience at Aire Ancient Baths where we could enjoy all the spa bath options including a steam room so we could understand first hand why their tag line at Mr. Steam is “Feel Good Inc”.

After gathering in the lobby of Aire and enjoying a selection of juices, we filed into the beautifully appointed changing rooms to don our swimsuits, robes, and swim shoes and head down to the lower level where the baths were reserved for our private party. 

The site is breathtaking in person and hard to capture on camera.  Two saltwater pools, two different temperature cold plunge pools and two different temperature hot pools surround the central steam room.  A refreshment station with water and chilled tea is set out in front of a long bench, further down a salt scrub and rinsing shower are available.  The entire place is lit by hundreds of votive candles.  We had two hours of bliss to enjoy it all!

Artesano Gourmet Dinner

And as if that was not enough, Mr. Steam treated us to a Peruvian dinner tasting menu at Artesano, that truly delighted the senses.

Artesano is a family run business that takes great pride in their artisanal Peruvian cuisine.  

We had a multi course tasting menu and endless glasses of some of the best wine I’ve ever had over the engaging 4 hour experience. 

I tried foods I’d never even heard of, must less tasted before, and it was all incredible and so artistically presented - a feast for the eyes and the palate.

The desert course, listed as “Potato” on the menu 🤷‍♀️, was the most unusual, presentation-wise.  They came to the table with what looked like rectangular planters of soil and scooped out delicious little flavor bombs of ice cream encased in a chocolate mousse shell.  The “soil” turned out to be a tasty crumble of some chocolate and quinoa combination.
