Project in Progress: A Cape Cod Retreat
Sharing a peek at a project in progress....
We are almost done with the first phase of this redecorating project at a charming vacation home in a private beach neighborhood on Cape Cod. After years of living with a "living room" space that didn't ever get used, the homeowner tasked us with creating a comfortable space that would be inviting. The living room had great features...large windows, hardwood floors, a fireplace, and pretty millwork AND it was part of an open plan space along with the dining area and a newly refurbished kitchen. Taking our color cues from the homeowner's new backsplash tile and blue accessories, we selected a new wool area rug and family friendly fabrics to tie the spaces seamlessly together and add warmth.
We specified a comfy new custom sofa and a pair of swivel chairs so that guests could easily turn to converse with the cook during meal prep. The chairs were selected with a rolled back detail since they will be visible from all sides. The seating group was pulled closer together around the fireplace feature and anchored on a stunning new rug. A round wicker ottoman functions as both footstool and coffee table and adds another layer of texture to the space. A pair of new lamps with wicker bases light the room from a new console table behind the sofa and a new floor lamp creates a perfect spot to enjoy a book by the fire on chilly evening.
A striped soft Roman shade finishes the kitchen window with flair and the striped fabric is repeated on pillows for the sofa. A soft Roman shade for the dining area and drapery panels to be hung in the living room are both crafted of a floral print with a casually elegant feel that brings a bit of pattern and softness to the space.
And here is a peek at the project in progress! Looking forward to finishing up with the draperies and the final touches!
