Boston Design Center Spring Market
A day in the life of a designer is never dull! Today was a fun mix. I spent the day at the Boston Design Center for Spring Market.
I was also shopping for some client projects, but Market is all about panel discussions and speakers and new product introductions in the showrooms…..and of course, tasty treats and fun giveaways to lure you in!
There were many panels. One that stood out was a highly engaging one sponsored by Waterworks about Creative Collaboration: Architecture, Interiors, and Landscapes.
It was expertly moderated by Jenna Talbott, Editor in Chief, New England Home
Panelists included the endlessly entertaining David Netto of David Netto Design, Brian Sawyer of Sawyer | Berson, and Nina Farmer of Nina Farmer Interiors, all of whom have new books out.
We were invited to the lovely Waterworks showroom for lunch and book signings following the discussion.
Waterworks has beautifully designed classic plumbing fixtures.
Kravet had an impressive pickleball themed giveaway for which you had to make an attempt to use a pickleball paddle to get a ball into a cornhole-like target to enter the raffle (if you got it in you automatically win a prize, otherwise you get to enter your name in the drawing).
Needless to say I had an epic fail on the game and didn’t win the giveaway either, so my designer pickleball paddle aspirations…if I had any, will have to wait!
Kravet is also a fabulous showroom with some stunning new fabrics and interesting furniture details. There were more modern fabrics on classic chair profiles…a lot of green, and texture is definitely trending.
Color is also trending. Philip Jeffries has some striking wallpaper murals.
Colefax and Fowler had beautiful textured wallpaper and some fanciful trims…I love this tassel trim with what reminds me of raspberries, and these spectacular wide soutache and embroidered tape trims
Pierre Frey offered afternoon tea and an introduction to their new fabric line which can be printed in a staggering array of custom colors.
There, color and texture extends to custom rugs and fanciful fabrics, and this absolutely stunning embroidered grasscloth wallpaper.
And more texture and color at Tile Showcase with this spectacular 3 dimensional flower blossom tile and these colorful patterned options.
It is always exciting to see what’s new!
I’ll be seeing more new product introductions at ICFF in New York in a couple of weeks as part of the Designhounds Influencer Tour…can’t wait to show you what I find!
