Our design for this new build beach cottage on the site of an old rental property, incorporates the clients wishes for a sophisticated modern vibe, but with a playful twist and a nod to the coastal location.

The colors throughout the house reflect the sea, sky, and beach just steps from the door.

Starting with the striking blue of the entry door and continuing with the blue striped stairway runner.  Modern cable railings both inside and out add a sophisticated modernity to the classic backdrop.

Carefully planned placement for each light of the 7 drop linear foyer fixture means the lights are visible through the clerestory windows over the entry door at night.

Driftwood colored LVP flooring throughout the main level holds up to the traffic of sandy, wet feet and paws.

The U-shaped kitchen offers every amenity for hosting casual vacation meals and incorporates an island and plenty of hard working honed granite counter space for multiple cooks to share in the fun.  Appliances include an extra under counter beverage refrigerator to keep plenty of drinks on hand and conveniently accessible.

Seaglass-inspired backsplash tile adds a touch of whimsey, while a bright blue island and modern wood pendant lights reinforce the nature references.

Fun kiwi green molded plastic chairs around a black wooden dining table are both comfortable and practical for bodies sporting wet bathing suits and suntan lotion.

Colorful art adds just the right touch.

A seating area open to the kitchen and dining space is focused on a black stone-look porcelain tile clad chimney breast with a gas linear fireplace and Samsung frame TV that displays art when not in use.

AV components and additional storage for games and puzzles is hidden in built-in cabinetry flanking a comfy banquette seat and a blue accent wall that carries the kitchen island color into the seating area..

This area offers a cozy fireside spot off season

God (or the devil, depending on who you ask?!) is in the details and the cabinet hardware here and in the kitchen is no exception. The beautiful mixed metal knurled handles are the perfect casually elegant touch. And the contemporary lighting repeats the gold, white, and black tones found throughout the space.

A navy modern sectional sofa, waterfall linen coffee table, and hanging rattan basket chair complete the comfy seating area for winding down after a busy day.

A suspended rattan egg chair adds a playful, carefree twist and is sure to be the favorite seat in the house! Planning ahead meant we were able to add blocking in the ceiling during construction so the basket chair could be anchored securely.

The house is the perfect getaway spot whether you are wading in the surf on a sunny summer day, or reading by the fire on a brisk fall evening.
