Lunch and Learn at Williston Weaves
Today was a lunch and learn event hosted by Williston Weaves, a lovely rug and carpet showroom with a fabulous array of unique offerings and an even more fabulous staff.
As an interior designer, it is so important to keep up with the newest options available to create unique and beautiful designs for your home. It is why we go to trade shows and markets like KBIS and High Point.
And why whenever a favorite showroom offers an opportunity to learn about a new line, we try to go…that and of course the opportunity to socialize with other industry friends and enjoy great food :)
We were greeted by the gracious hosts with gorgeous bouquets of spring flowers and a lovely array of delicious offerings from brioche sandwiches, pasta salad, and fruit, to miniature whoopee pies and cookies, and assorted beverages including bubbly, of course!
Today’s event was showcasing a new line they are carrying from AF Carpet and Rug Designs.
And Alan Feldberg (the AF in AF Carpet and Rug Designs) himself, was there to introduce it.
Alan founded the company in 2020 with a long history and deep knowledge of the carpet industry to serve the discerning market with completely custom and customizable carpets. His carpets are hand crafted in Nepal and India by skilled artisans using the finest natural materials. Wool, New Zealand wool, mohair, and silk are hand woven or hand knotted in a curated collection of patterns and delicious textures inspired by fashion.
Boucle’s, luxurious thick silk, knit looks, wool sisal and grasscloth textures, subtle plaids, stripes and chevrons, and some organic sculpted designs are included in the line. And brand new offerings about to be added will include some indoor/outdoor options.
While they stock their own yarns in the mostly neutral palette shown, they will create rugs in any colors, sizes, and shapes that the designer can dream up.
The emphasis is on exceptional service, quality, hand crafting, and stunning textures. Edges are hand serged, finished carpets are transported by air rather than ocean liner, and textures have the elegant variation of hand crafting so no two rugs are identical.
Because AF stocks the yarns and controls production and transport, custom rugs can be produced with much shorter lead times than the industry norms, and no wasted materials.
Looms can be reconfigured to achieve any width up to 20’ wide (and possibly more) and woven to any length.
It is hard to capture in pictures but these rugs offer unparalleled luxury and elegance for the discerning client.
If you are looking for something special and unique, these (as well as many other options) are available through designers via select trade showrooms like Williston Weaves.
Thank you, Williston, for hosting such a lovely luncheon and for bringing us a new, beautiful option for custom rugs!
