Travel in Style
Vacation travel season is baaaack baby! Persistent pandemic threats aside, it seems like EVERYONE has hit the road again. With a lot of pent up demand from the last few years when travel was not even possible, this was totally expected.
And if you are going to travel, by all means, do it in style!
For my birthday last month, I suggested my kids look for luggage for me since I had been borrowing theirs every time I went somewhere requiring a suitcase! I figure we may all want to travel together at some point, though an actual vacation seems unlikely any time soon with our wildly divergent schedules. But in any case, I should have some functional luggage of my own that is not a gym/duffel bag!
I knew I wanted carry on size because, let’s face it, I can barely trust the airlines to get ME where I’m going, so I definitely do not trust them to get my luggage there! Also, I am a packing ninja. I can get a weeks worth of stuff into a carry-on with 7 outfits, 3 pairs of shoes, and cosmetics! Secret to success? Roll everything, well everything that CAN be rolled - obviously this does not apply to shoes and cosmetics!
In true diva fashion, my daughter researched the best possible solutions and came up with the PERFECT thing. From a company aptly called Away Travel, she and my son got me a carry-on bag in a beautiful blue color and a matching ‘everywhere’ bag with monogramming. Be still my heart.

This is apparently the millennial luggage of choice. And while I am in no way a millennial, I highly recommend growing your own. And I appreciate all the thought that went into creating these pieces.

Luggage
The lightweight hardsided suitcase has many thoughtful features. In addition to the expected 360º spinner wheels and TSA combination lock, it has an expansion zipper to add 2 1/2” of extra space for those unexpected treasures acquired whilst away, interior organizers, a removable washable lining, a leather luggage tag, and an underside handle on the wheel end to make grabbing it out of the overhead compartment or off the luggage carousel easy no matter which way it is oriented.
Packing Accessories
They make many accessories that are sized to fit the luggage and make packing efficient and easy. A couple of notable ones are a folding garment bag insert for wrinkle free packing of hanging items, and packing cubes sized perfectly for their suitcases (I juuust ordered myself a set!).
Tote Bag
The everywhere bag is similarly well thought out with a trolley sleeve that slides over the suitcase handle, interior and exterior compartments, a padded shoulder strap, padded laptop pocket, and detachable key ring. And of course mine is monogrammed!
It was all impressively packaged, which is totally on brand, and the luggage even came with a special sponge for erasing any scuff marks and restoring it to like-new condition apres-travel.
They make all kinds of other luggage sizes and shapes, and they all come in a variety of colors including this very cute pink leather version of the everywhere bag!
My birthday came just after my siege of travel to CT (which you can read about here ICYMI) with a borrowed suitcase, so I’m looking forward to the maiden voyage of my new Away luggage.
Next month when I fly to Atlanta for the Design Influencers Conference, I will be sporting my new, stylish luggage! The hotel for that trip promises to be significantly nicer than either of the ones I stayed in for High Point Market OR the Kitchen and Bath Show! And I am ready to roll!!
