Spring Colors from Thibaut at High Point Market
One of my favorite showrooms to visit at High Point Market is the Thibaut showroom. Their products are so beautiful and their showroom vignettes are always a feast for the eyes.
For those of you who don’t know, High Point Market is a twice-a-year event in High Point NC that is a mecca for designers and retailers in the home furnishings industry. It is where we go to see the latest product offerings from the zillions of brands represented and to discover new trends and vendors.
This bold stripe makes a statement on a classic ottoman bench serving as a coffee table in front of a settee. Blue and white is always classic and fresh and a perfect combination to add a touch of coastal style. And stripes are one of the friendliest patterns - they play well with almost any other pattern (more on mixing patterns HERE)
The trade showrooms are fantastic and the market is incredibly well run - the hotel situation is another matter entirely (you can read my hotel tale of woe here😂). I attended in person for the first time last fall but was unable to make it this spring.
Nevertheless, the Thibaut showroom has been posting all these beautiful images from spring market so I wanted to share them. You can see them and more on the Thibaut Instagram feed HERE and you should absolutely follow them if you don’t already! If you are a devotee of fresh classic style and gracious elegance - this line is for you!
If this green and lavender doesn’t spark echoes of spring, I don’t know what does! Patterned host and hostess chairs at the ends of a dining table are a great way to introduce a bolder pattern without overwhelming the room. Here they are paired with white side chairs and a green linen curtain panel edged with one of their glorious trims.
These vignettes are indicative of the decorating trend seen throughout market towards more color that started last year, though these are mostly a bit softer versions of the more vivid colors that were in the showroom during fall market.
Below are some of the images I took at Thibaut at High Point Market last fall. You can also read about the trends spotted there in these three High Point Market Trend Reports: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3
This April, so many of the colors at Thibaut were a bit more pastel-leaning and perfect for the spring season.
This gorgeous room is swoon-worthy, awash in robins egg blue fabrics with green accents, and grounded by neutral pieces and a natural sisal rug. Sisal is an excellent foundation for a mix of classic patterns, adding texture without competing for attention. And notice the trim detail on the hem of the ottoman and the way the pleats are tacked…such attention to detail is what makes a room sing.
Another vignette with an ottoman as cocktail table - I’m seeing a theme here! This time in a pastel pink and green. A coordinating botanical fabric covers the chair and a watercolor inspired wall covering serves as backdrop.
This room had the bold bright floral chairs last fall and while it is still sporting fun candy colors, they’ve lightened up a bit for spring with a lot of white and pastel mixed in. The curtain fabric is a fun kaleidoscope of brights arranged in a modified plaid pattern on a white ground.
I’m always a fan of green and blue and here are bolder shades, again relieved with white for spring. Green, as natures neutral, appears in nearly every room in some form. And this room sports one of the few coffee tables that is not an ottoman!
Thibaut carries a gorgeous selection of prints and wovens. And they have some GORGEOUS trims that add so much! I fell in love with THIS new scalloped felt trim last fall!
A word about trends…while trends will indicate what sort of things are likely to be available and can spark new ideas, your home should ALWAYS be a reflection of YOU, not just the latest whim of the design world! Choose colors and designs that speak to you. Classics never go “out of style” and if you choose classic designs, and colors you love, and invest in quality, your home will bring you joy for years to come.
