Table Decor to Welcome Spring
Spring has sprung…well it’s TRYING to here, anyway! It’s almost April and soon-ish the warmer weather will be a bit more consistent. I adore spring. The new life springing up through the ground, the trees beginning to bud, the sturdiest of blooms defying the still occasionally freezing temperatures…all of it feels like HOPE.

Colors that are the hallmarks of spring are sunny yellows, pinks, and an assortment of pastels with a backdrop of the lighter yellow-greens of new growth that define “spring green”.
We celebrated the turn of spring on the calendar with a bouquet of sunny yellow grocery store daffodils. PRO TIP: Daffodils do not play well with others…they are best grouped in their own bouquet as mixing them into an arrangement will almost always hasten the decline of the rest of the flowers.
Over the last 4 or 5 weeks, we’ve cut forsythia branches from the bushes in the yard and brought them inside to force the blooms and remind us that spring is indeed coming!
We’ve turned to the quintessential elements of spring…bird nests and eggs, and flowers both real and faux to fill the house with happy, hopeful signs of the season.
Today we are zhushing up the inside to bring some spring flair to the tables in the house and remind us that it IS indeed spring now, regardless of what the thermometer tells us!
Please bear in mind that your seasonal decor should never clash with the colors in your home. There are many color options for every season to work with any decor scheme. Our home decor is full of spring colors with upholstery and curtains in the main spaces all in shades of pink, coral, yellow and green and grounded with some dark wood and black accents to keep it all from being too sacharine. It makes it easy to bring in spring!
Our dining table centerpiece is an arrangement of faux hydrangea blooms in white, ivory, and pink, along with faux ivy and faux crabapple branches all nestled into a spring green handled wooden basket along with a salvaged nest and a cloche of faux eggs.
Arranging everything in a basket makes it easy to move this centerpiece if we need the space for something else...like food (if we are entertaining a crowd and serving ‘family style’!)
We filled a favorite vintage green vase with more faux flowers, this time white gerbera daisies, for the coffee table.

I’ve had this vase forever…I think it came from my parents house, but it is from a California pottery circa 1940’s. I love the spring green matte finish and the shape. It has been dropped and chipped and glued back together, but it is well loved and still both useful and pretty. The leaves in our arrangement cover the chipped edge :).

Our coffee table arrangement includes a bowl of pastel eggs in the perfect colors to bring spring to the inside.

nothing says spring like flowers and pastel eggs!
Faux blooms also grace the entry table. This time a vintage ironstone pitcher holds a cascade of white peony stems, supervised by a mercury glass bird on a stack of books.
Finally, more grocery store blooms (thank you Trader Joe’s!) are arranged in containers. Currently they are holding court on the dining room sideboard, but are easily moved to a living room table as the mood strikes!
