We've been working on this New Build home project for nearly a year now - from modifying the builder plans to selecting the furnishings and finishes. And we are finally getting close to the finish line! Here are the gorgeous rugs and fabrics we are curating to make a fabulous home for these wonderful clients.

We began with the plan for the color palette for the whole house so that it would flow cohesively together. This is especially important in a smaller home where spaces are open to one another. The selected palette was a neutral taupe with white, cream, and various shades of blue.

The key to mixing patterns is to keep a consistency of colors and vary the scale and type of design. Mix organic patterns with geometrics and textures.

The kitchen, dining, and living room areas are all one open great room space with a wall of windows along the length of the room and a fireplace in one end opposite the kitchen.

The builder only allowed one wall paint color and we chose Edgecomb Gray, a warm neutral that, despite the name, is NOT gray! This color paired well with the taupe backsplash tile, white cabinets and trim, and deep blue island finishes that we specified. We planned to paint the chimney breast a deep blue to carry the island color to that end of the space and simultaneously offer some camouflage for the TV over the mantel!

The first fabric we selected was for the draperies as there will be a lot of it given the generous size and number of the windows. We selected a GORGEOUS embroidered floral linen weave. The drapery hardware will be in a champagne finish that echoes the finish of the orb pendants over the island.

Dining Room Area

For the Dining Room area we offered 2 options, a more contemporary bolder rug with a geometric fabric for the chair seats and a more subtle rug with a paisley for the chairs. Chair seat fabric selections are performance fabrics for ease of maintenance for any grandchild (or grownup) mishaps!

Our clients went with the bolder rug choice and when it arrived, their granddaughter was delighted , dancing across it and announcing “it’s Frozen!” Apparently, we may need to find a way to include a talking snowman in the design…

Living Room Area

The living room area has a selection of fabrics in blues, taupes, and ivories, with a variety of textures including a stunning embroidered velvet. A custom cocktail table ottoman in a performance fabric lends a casual elegance and serves the sofa and a swivel chair as a footstool. Existing pieces are reupholstered to work with the new sofa and swivel chairs, and we included sentimental family heirlooms like a Duncan Phyfe table in the mix.

Using a mix of some more modern pieces alongside repurposed and traditional furnishings creates a sophisticated curated feel that is unique and personal.

Master Bedroom

While the great room space is taupe and white with cream, champagne, and blue accents, the master bedroom is a pale blue and white, with taupe and black accents, carrying similar colors throughout the house for a cohesive color story but changing the shades and the proportions

We planned for a pale blue wall color for the master bedroom with another embroidered floral for the windows, this time in a crisp white to go with the white matelasse bedding. A deep blue in the embroidered design is carried over into upholstery choices for the bed and a side chair. A soft wool area rug in a subtle crosshatch design brings shades of taupe and blue to the floor, and accents of black appear in the dresser, drapery hardware, a chair frame and tray table.

I can’t wait to see this all installed!! It’s going to be SO pretty!
