Peach Dessert Recipes

It is STILL peach season and I am savoring EVERY minute of it!

Maybe misplaced pride…but the peaches ARE really delicious here at this local farm stand!

Peach is one of my all-time favorite flavors and local fresh peaches are absolute heaven.  If you are looking for recipes to take advantage of peach season, this Grilled Peach Chicken I posted about recently is another excellent one! If I buy enough peaches, maybe I’ll even have some to use in baking?!  Today I am sharing my two favorite peach desserts.

Our local peaches at a nearby farm stand. The sign reads “we are not the peach police so please don’t leave us fingerprints!”

The first recipe depends on really great fresh peaches and it could not be simpler.  I was introduced to this fabulous dessert by my friend Tiffany.  She served it with her own honey from the hives in her yard and it was love at first bite!

 Grilled Peaches with Mascarpone.

Just 3 ingredients and a few minutes of prep time and this deliciousness can be headed for your taste buds.

Ingredients

Peaches, 1 per serving

Mascarpone, 2 tablespoons per serving ( NOTE: mascarpone is a soft Italian cheese made from heavy cream and tartaric acid. It is a smooth, creamy, slightly sweet cheese somewhat similar to clotted cream or creme fraiche)

Honey

Directions

Halve the peaches and remove the pits.  Prepare a grill at medium heat (a gas grill or electric countertop grill makes this super fast – OR  if you are using a charcoal grill to make other dinner elements, this is an easy dessert add on).  Grill the peaches cut side down on non-stick aluminum foil (which makes for easy clean up too) until beginning to show char lines (around 5 minutes on my grill, but it will depend on your level of heat).  Turn halves over and grill a few minutes more.  Remove from grill and place one half in serving dish, add a scoop of mascarpone, top with a second peach half, drizzle with honey (around ½ Tbsp or to taste).  Garnish with a leaf and serve!

Here is one of my favorite cookie scoops which is just the right size for the mascarpone. And a set of pretty footed dessert bowls (click on image for more information):

My second favorite peach recipe is a Southern favorite from Paula Deen and is a bit more decadent.  It can be made with either fresh or canned peaches so it can be enjoyed year round. Yippee!

 Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

4 cups peeled, sliced peaches (NOTE: I’ve occasionally been lazy and not peeled the peaches before and it still tastes divine OR canned peaches will do in a pinch – get the ones packed in juice with no added sugar)

2 cups sugar, divided

½ cup water

8 Tbsp butter

1 ½ cups self-rising flour

1 ½ cups milk

ground cinnamon

Directions

Preheat oven to 350’F.

Combine peaches, 1 cup sugar, and water in a saucepan.  Mix well and heat to boiling.  Turn down heat and simmer for 10 minutes.  Remove from heat.

Put the butter in a 3 quart baking dish and place in the oven to melt.

Mix remaining cup of sugar, flour, and milk (adding milk slowly and stirring to prevent clumping).  Pour the flour mixture over the melted butter in the baking dish. DO NOT STIR.  Spoon the fruit over the top and gently pour in the syrup from the cooked peaches.  Sprinkle the top with cinnamon.  Batter will rise to the top during baking.  Bake 30-45 minutes until batter is golden.

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream, and invite me over!

I love oven-to-tableware! These pretty bakers make it easy to bring your cobbler straight to the table for serving. And an assortment of dessert (or salad!) dishes to set a beautiful table AND feed my dishware obsession (click on image for more info):

Enjoy!
